“Back then, this place was old and worn out. There was no air conditioning in summer, and it was unbearably hot. Now it’s clean and bright, with new sofas. We come here every day to play chess and chat — it’s even more comfortable than home!” said Mr. Li, an elderly resident of Xiaowang Village, Yunzhou District, Datong, as he touched the newly installed chess table with a smile.
This heartwarming transformation comes from the “Sungrow Elderly Care Station” public welfare initiative launched by Sungrow New Energy in Datong. On July 28, as the red silk was unveiled, the once aging community activity space officially reopened as a new “Happiness Hub” for local seniors.
Sungrow New Energy carried out a comprehensive renovation of the elderly activity station, upgrading every detail from wall repainting and roof waterproofing to floor refurbishment, creating a more comfortable environment for local seniors.“Great attention was given to every aspect of the renovation. Knowing that seniors are sensitive to cold, the project added floor insulation. Considering elderly residents with limited mobility, the entrance steps were redesigned into gentle slopes, and even the handrail height was carefully adjusted,” said village director Wang Jinhong. “Sungrow New Energy has not only renewed the station, but also brought thoughtful care and warmth to the elderly.”
