Elderly poetry club, calligraphy and painting, reading, handicrafts, senior chess club, psychological counseling, day care, health checkups, dining and leisure activities... Stepping into the Sungrow Elderly Care Station in Longjiang County, Qiqihar City, it is hard to imagine that such a fully equipped senior activity hub was built from unused space within a community service center.
The Longjiang Sungrow Elderly Care Station was completed and officially put into operation on July 18. Going forward, local social service organizations will leverage the station as a platform to regularly organize diverse cultural and recreational activities for seniors, enriching the spiritual and cultural lives of the surrounding elderly community. It will help transform the vision of “elderly care, participation, and fulfillment” into reality. “I’ve always enjoyed playing chess, while my wife prefers a quiet environment and likes reading. In the past, whenever I went out to play chess, she would complain that I was always away from home. Now things are different — this station has everything from books and chess to dining services,” said Zhang Haiqing, a senior resident of Fuxing Community in Longjiang County, who had been looking forward to the station since its construction began. “This will become our ‘happy home base’ for seniors in the future.”
“In recent years, we have been driving rural revitalization through reform and innovation. Cultural revitalization is an essential part of rural development. Only by effectively improving the cultural lives of middle-aged and elderly residents can cultural revitalization achieve meaningful value,” said Qi Xin, Deputy County Mayor of Longjiang County. The completion of the Sungrow Elderly Care Station provides important support for local rural revitalization.
